Impact Report 2022/23
We are pleased to announce that we have launched a new impact report site to show our contribution to the systems Fit For Future strategy over the past year. Active Essex have been very busy over the past year collaborating with some fantastic partners to deliver a range of programmes and initiatives to aid the health and wellbeing of Essex residents.
Active Essex would like to thank all of our providers for their ongoing support and hard work which has enabled more residents to find what works best for them. The stories and statistics we have collected have only motivated us more to continue our work in getting people active. Please visit our new Impact Report site and explore the different pages under our localities

Share-Connect-Collaborate
As a way of celebrating 2 years of Fit for the Future, the Essex Physical Activity and Sport strategy, we are hosting our second Share-Connect-Collaborate networking event on the 4th July at the Essex Business School on the University of Essex campus.
If you would like to join in the sharing and learning of the incredible work across Essex that is enabling individuals, families, and communities to enjoy the huge benefits of being active, then please sign up using the link below. You will also hear from nationally recognised inspirational keynote speakers, who will then lead workshops to explore their thought leadership in more depth.

Ford RideLondon-Essex
On Sunday 28th May, RideLondon returned to the county for its second year, where 25,000 cyclists took to the streets of Essex to complete the 100 mile challenge.
It was great to see crowds of spectators, communities come together and businesses boom over the weekend, as well as spot a number of riders in Active Essex Foundation jerseys helping to raise awareness and funds for the charity.

The Future of Leisure Conference
Public leisure facilities and services play a vital role in our physical activity and sport sector within Essex. Since emerging from the pandemic, we recognise the fragile state of public leisure. Participation levels have only partially recovered, facilities are battling rising energy costs and there are challenges in the recruitment and retention of staff.
If you work within the leisure world, then we would like to invite you to join our event, which will provide you with an overview of the current landscape and an opportunity to understand why a shared vision for public leisure facilities in Essex is so important, in order to create a more sustainable future.

May half-term with Essex ActivAte
Over 80 free, Essex ActivAte clubs engaged more than 3,500 young people this May half term across the county! A range of physical, enrichment and food activities were enjoyed by children, as well as a nutritious meal.
Activities such as multi-sports, giant games, archery, pony rides, spring arts and crafts, local green and blue space visits and much more was on offer to support young people’s wellbeing, as well as improve their confidence and social skills.

Active Essex Foundation 1Up, Basildon
The 1Up Collective are a multi-disciplinary group that strive to help young people reach their potential through education and social inclusion. In Basildon, with support from the Active Essex Foundation, they have been able to set up a project in response to an increase in youth anti-social behaviour.
Young people who may be vulnerable to knife crime and youth violence can feel supported and safe in this environment created by 1Up.
