Supporting Children and Young People to have positive attitudes towards physical activity

The #MoveWithUs campaign, which launched last year, is publishing more resources and exciting initiatives to get involved with. From Count with Courtney challenges and Path to Paris resources to joining the team as an ambassador or supporting the campaigns outcomes by signing up to become an advocate. It’s time to check it out, and time to #MoveWithUs!

Activating Communities at Ford RideLondon-Essex

With Ford RideLondon-Essex returning to the county for the third year in May 2024, we want to ensure it will be an event that will bring communities together, and activation zones are great for this!
Funding and support opportunities are now available to enable local activation and ignite communities over the Ford RideLondon-Essex 2024 weekend.

Essex Pedal Power Launches on Canvey Island

Exciting news! Essex Pedal Power, the community cycling initiative, has launched on Canvey Island. The expansion of the programme will allow 200 new bikes to be given exclusively to eligible school children in years 6 and 7, to enable them to travel actively through their transition from Primary school to Secondary school. The £150,000 funding for this programme comes from a partnership with the London Marathon Foundation, following Ford RideLondon-Essex coming to the county for a second time last year.

Jason’s Reflections

I am extremely lucky to work with many incredible partners and individuals throughout my work with Active Essex, and they all strive to help communities to find their active. Having fun and enjoying the activity you do will help you to sustain a healthy habit, as we set out our goals for 2024!

Active Essex Foundation, Girls Inspired

The Active Essex Foundation have launched the Girls Inspired programme which will be a 12-week programme engaging young people in activity. As well as providing physical activity and a chance to try new skills, the young people will learn about respect, support and trust which should mean they can build better relationships in their community and other places outside the programme. So far the participants have been thoroughly engaged and we’re looking forward to seeing the progress made in the next few weeks.
