The Mid Essex Recovery College runs free courses, workshops, and provides a safe space for people to learn new skills, expand on existing ones, and attend courses developed to support mental health recovery. Co-production is a core feature of recovery college ethos and the courses are all co-produced by experts by experience, individuals with lived experience of mental health, as well as individuals with professional experience of working for mental health services.
Courses are available to anyone within the Mid Essex area who have experienced or are experiencing mental health challenges themselves, who are supporting another person with their mental health challenges or who just want to learn more about the topics covered. The workshops cover a range of subjects from Wellbeing, Anxiety and Employment to Filmmaking and Domestic Abuse.
Students are required to register with the College before attending workshops to ensure their wellbeing can be effectively supported whilst with the College.
All students are offered the opportunity to complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) with a member of the College team which can help to identify learning goals, reflect on progress and explore support for the student’s recovery journey.
