Healthwatch Essex are launching an exciting competition for schoolchildren across Essex, which gives them the opportunity to have their invention developed into a product which can help people living with a disability. ‘Little Inventions for Big Change’ is Healthwatch Essex’s latest competition encouraging young people to share ideas and designs for inventions which they think could help people living with a disability.
Healthwatch have teamed up with Remap who will work with the winner to develop a prototype or professional design for their product. Hoping that brilliant young minds across Essex will have new ideas and, unconstrained by convention, will draw some fantastic inventions which could be of great use to the health and care sector. The designs will be judges by the most senior people in health and care across Essex – creating a great opportunity to influence change.
The competition is also designed to help children learn about disability and comes with a lesson plan and learning pack to support adults to deliver an input before allowing the creativity to flow! Remember there are no bad ideas. We don’t care how crazy the design – we want to see completely unfettered ideas!*
The competition is open to groups of children of school age – this could also be other community groups, like Scouts, Rainbows and Guides. It is free to enter and other prizes include:
- a Zookeeper enclosure experience at Colchester Zoo for parent and child
- Amazon vouchers and prizes for your school.
