Leading Greater Essex 2024 – Applications open Wednesday 6 December

Leading Greater Essex (LGE) is an opportunity for aspiring system leaders to develop their skills and capabilities to work effectively across a complex public service landscape. It is a leadership programme with a difference. It is not just a personal development programme; it is also an investment in the capabilities of the Essex system to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.

Programme delivery approach

  • The programme runs from February 2024 to November 2024. This will include 8 full-day in-person events averaging once a month. 4 two-hour online group coaching sessions. In total 64 hours of structured learning time, plus work on a system challenge.
  • In person group learning. This will include input from programme leaders and guest speakers, small group exercises and discussion focused on developing knowledge and skills through experiential learning.
  • Online group coaching sessions. This will support participants to reflect with peers as they apply their learning in practice, and throughout the programme.
  • System Challenges. This will enable participants to apply their learning to real complex issues facing Greater Essex, working with a key sponsor from the Essex system and a group of peers.

As a leader across Greater Essex, are there colleagues from your organisation who you would like to invest in and facilitate their participation in LGE 2024?

Leading Greater Essex is for people who:

  • are in senior and/or strategic roles across the public or voluntary sector (and have the support of their employer to participate).
  • are passionate about making a difference for the residents of Essex and want to play their part in working across the Greater Essex system.
  • recognise the complexity in which we operate and that deep seated challenges cannot be tackled in a vacuum-alone, by any one single organisation.
  • are curious, including being open to ideas, provocations, and perspectives beyond their own control and that of their organisations,
  • are keen to learn, willing to look inside and challenge themselves, as well as contribute to the learning of others.
  • can fit the programme schedule into their work calendar.

Places on LGE 2024 are £2,000 per participant. There are 5 places available to voluntary and community organisations via a bursary.
