The Linnean Society is inviting applications for projects to help young people in the UK take the lead on projects that involve their local nature and natural spaces.

The Our Local Nature Grant scheme is open to individuals and organisations who are linked with a group of young people within the UK. This could include but is not limited to school staff, student groups, home education groups, community groups and small charities.

The maximum award is £1,000 per proposal, and the Society is happy to co-fund projects with other organisations.

The grant can be used for a variety of activities, such as:

  • Running a school festival about nature
  • Painting community murals showcasing biodiversity
  • Building a community garden
  • Creating a nature walk
  • Hiring a speaker to come and talk about local foraging

The closing date for applications is the 22nd October 2023.

The Our Local Nature Grant scheme is part of the Linnean Society’s commitment to supporting young people’s engagement with nature. The Society believes that young people have a vital role to play in protecting and conserving the natural world, and this grant scheme is a way to help them make a difference.
