Karen, who worked as a Head Teacher, decided to foster six years ago when her children had grown up. She said: “I thought I could use this time to make a difference to the lives of children in care. Even a small amount of support can make a big difference to families.”

Essex County Council seeks foster carers who can help children with disabilities thrive. These carers offer vital breaks to families in need. Most children do not need to be cared for in a specially adopted home or by someone with professional experience.

You can foster from just a weekend each month. The council will carefully match children to you, provide ample support, training, and a competitive financial package. Contact Essex County Council to learn more about fostering. It’s a rewarding opportunity to positively impact families.
