On Saturday 13 July we joined the vibrant Colchester Carnival, celebrating the rich cultural diversity within the city.

The carnival was organised by the Colchester Diversity Communities Network (CDCN) CIC and the community leaders of the various communities living in and around Colchester.

The theme this year underscored the importance of coming together as a community, promoting inclusivity by encouraging participation from all cultural, ethnic, and social groups within Colchester. Creating a platform for everyone to shine and showcase their cultural heritage, traditions, and talents, in a tapestry of colours, sounds, and performances.

We worked alongside Re-Breathe CIC, who we have supported through the Diverse Communities Action Plan project. The Re-Breathe group support African parents and children with special educational needs. The parents and children staged a fashion parade where both traditional African fashion was showcased, as well as providing a platform for combatting the stigma around neuro diversity within that community.

It was great to see everyone so involved and enjoying the day!
