Congratulations to our wonderful volunteer Jane McCausland who was awarded the John Jowers Award for Outstanding Citizen of the year at a recent Community Day Event.

The award was presented by the Mayor at The Colchester United Community Foundation and The British Red Cross Family Fun Day.

Jane was nominated for her amazing commitment to Community360 Community Transport for Colchester and Maldon. As a volunteer for community transport, Jane has volunteered her time for more than 11 years to assist community transport members with organising weekly excursions and events, during lockdown when traveling was not possible. Jane coordinated hot meals from home with zoom calls and activities which helped so many people who would otherwise have been socially isolated. Jane makes a very positive contribution to the community by keeping a varied diary of excursions, which is a lifeline for many people, and her proactive positive attitude really makes her stand out.

This was the first ever Colchester Community Celebration and attracted thousands of residents of all ages and interests at the Shrub End Community and Sports Centre.

Our transport scheme is supported by a small army of amazing volunteers. Last year our drivers made over 42,000 trips! The scheme offers an affordable safe way for people to travel but we need more drivers to be able to do this,

Are you interested in volunteering? You really could make a difference in the community you live in.

We would love to hear from you!
