Residents at Great Bradfords House care home have been meeting as part of a programme of intergenerational learning.
The connections were made by Philip Rawlinson from Community360’s Braintree team who has worked towards bringing the two generations together. Intergenerational learning connects the children and elderly residents who meet for an hour every two weeks. The school brings activities for the pupils and residents to enjoy together.
The children have great fun and spending time with the children gives the residents a new lease of life. Both generations gain a lot from the experience, forming lovely relationships and the children like seeing their “new friends”. The children especially have grown in confidence through the visits.
Braintree District Council have produced a video of one of the visit. Click here to view : https://youtu.be/hPYcKLSvpVE
