Community360 is looking for more volunteers who are willing to give some of their time to make a real difference to the lives of local people.

To help the organisation continue to meet the needs of the communities it serves, it is now looking to recruit new support drivers, especially in the Tiptree area.

An open event is being organised on Thursday 14th November at their transport offices in Tiptree to enable those interested in volunteering to speak and meet with staff and existing volunteers.

Tristan Easey, Projects Manager at Community360 said: “Volunteering provides a wonderful opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of local people who are lonely and isolated, and to be part of a dedicated team of volunteers across Essex. Training and ongoing support is provided, and we would encourage anyone interested to pop along to our event for a cuppa and a chat.”

He added: “There has been a massive increase in demand for community transport for example to hospital and doctor’s appointments in this area. Without the volunteer drivers we would not be able to offer this vital service to the local community.”

Community360 Voluntary Transport schemes provide safe and affordable transport to people who experience difficulties accessing transport.

Volunteer drivers use their cars to provide a ‘door to door’ service to passengers who do not have access to personal transport or are unable to access public transport due to lack of service, ill health, frailty or poor mobility.

A volunteer driver for Community360 said: “I’ve been a volunteer driver for just over 10 years and still enjoy doing it. The reason I got into this was that I felt I needed a bit more structure in my retirement something to make my time more worthwhile.

I have met some lovely people who are so grateful for the service we offer which means their lives are fuller making them happier.  it is so satisfying when you get home and feel you have done something worthwhile.”

“Anyone who could spare a few hours – typically undertaking one driving job a week – as a volunteer driver would be very welcome.” Said Tristan

“If you love driving you can volunteer and give people who can’t get out and about on their own some much-needed freedom.”

The Volunteer Driver Event is on Thursday 14th November 2019 between 10am – 2pm at Community360, The Barn, Venn Farm, Tudwick Road, Tiptree, Essex
