Closed Businesses Lockdown Payment

On 5 January, the government announced that businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors would receive a one-off top up grant worth up to £9,000 per property.

The Closed Businesses Lockdown Payment supports businesses that have been legally mandated to close due to the national restrictions that began on 5 January 2021.

The eligibility criteria has been published on GOV.UK. The full details can be found in our closed businesses lockdown payment policy.

All eligible businesses registered on our system should now be in receipt of this payment. If you are eligible and have NOT received this payment, please email busrates@braintree.gov.uk as soon as possible.

Please note that businesses in receipt of rate relief are also eligible – providing they are also eligible for the Local Restrictions Support Closed Addendum grants.

The application window for the Additional Restrictions Grant scheme, covering the impact of the restrictions from December 2020, will open next week.

We will publish the full eligibility criteria via this business bulletin when the new phase for this scheme opens next week. The information will also be published on our website.
