Who is this course for?
A Health & Safety Executive recommended, non-assessed course. This is the minimum level of First Aid training for the workplace, and also suitable for first aid needs in social and domestic settings.
What are the entry requirements?
There are no entry requirements other than candidates are recommended to wear comfortable clothing and be prepared for taking part in practical work at floor level.
What will I study?
The course will include a variety of first aid procedures, along with many medical conditions and is a nationally recognised qualification. Topics include:
- Aims and Principles of First Aid
- Action at an Emergency
- Basic Life Support
- Management of the Unconscious Casualty
- Assessment and treatment of a casualty who is wounded, bleeding or shocked
- Assessment and treatment of a casualty suffering from a head injury
- Assessment and treatment of casualty suffering from a breathing problems
- Assessment and treatment of a casualty suffering from a heart condition
- Assessment and treatment of bleeding, fractures, and burns
How will I be assessed?
The certificate is awarded to all candidates who successfully completed the one day course, demonstrated competence, and took an active role in all practical work and discussion. The certificate is nationally recognised and is valid for 3 years.

Special Notes re Covid
Both the venue and trainer follow Covid safety guidelines, and training will be carried out in a manner that reduces unnecessary interactions.
The trainer has been fully vaccinated and completes lateral flow tests on a weekly basis.
All equipment will be regularly sanitised.
Delegates should bring their own food and drink.
Delegates MUST NOT attend if they are showing any signs of Covid or have tested positive within the previous 10 days of the course date.
Masks should be brought and worn according to current government guidelines.
We will be vigilant of government guidelines and aim to give as much notification to delegates as possible should the course need to be postponed.

Located in Colchester town centre in what used to be the old Poundland shop (for those local to Colchester).
Modernised in 2021, the hub’s training rooms are found on the first floor and are accessible via stairs and a lift. Toilets and kitchen are both found on the same level.
Parking can be found nearby at Priory Street car park, Britannia car park, the NCP car park or Vineyard Street car park. Priory Street is the closest car park and is about a 5 minute walk away.
Please enter by the front entrance on Long Wyre Street, walk through the ground floor towards the back of the room where the door to the first floor can be found.
Disabled access and toilet at the rear of the ground floor.
