The purpose of the One Colchester Resilience Fund is to provide additional capacity to voluntary and community groups support at risk groups, residents and projects that can begin to help local people during the Winter period. Our research has also identified the following need:
- Social Isolation – increasing numbers of people are approaching the sector for support and, together with mental health, it is the most significant concern for voluntary groups surveyed in the Borough.
- Financial Capability and Low Income – low income and deprivation are affecting the life opportunities of local residents by limiting access to basic staples, such as food and heating. Unemployment and poor housing will also affect quality of life. We are identifying additional pressures on people living alone and younger people under the age of 35 in recent months.
- Inequalities – we are aware of many factors which are impacting upon health inequalities. We welcome applications from projects which will seek to counter this.
We anticipate applications between £3,000-5,000 however, applications for less than that amount are welcome. We are also looking for applications from partnerships, two or more organisations.
