There’s a chance to get more involved in your community at a volunteer recruitment event. Volunteers provide an invaluable contribution to the community and with winter fast approaching, there is an increasing demand for voluntary assistance.
Local charity Community360 are hosting the event on Monday 3rd December 2018 in the One Colchester shop at 81 Culver Street East in Colchester town centre, working in partnership with Anglian Community Enterpise, East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, Firstsite and Active Citizens.
There will be information on ad-hoc volunteering as part of the Time Bank scheme, as well as some dedicated roles, such as becoming a volunteer driver within Community Transport; supporting the teams at Colchester, Clacton and Harwich Hospital; and becoming a volunteer befriender.
Current volunteers will be attending the event to share their stories on why they decided to volunteer and what they have gained from the experience.
“I became a time bank volunteer a year ago and it has helped with my social isolation, I have made new friends and learned new skills which has improved my wellbeing.” – Adam, Time Bank Volunteer
“Volunteering provides a good learning experience in how you relate to people and a great sense of achievement when you manage to put something in place that will help the person in the future.” – Christine, Home from Hospital Volunteer
Community360 Chief Executive, Tracy Rudling, said: “As well as helping others, volunteering can help improve your wellbeing too; it is a great way to gain valuable new skills and experiences, and boost your confidence. If you have some free time, are looking to learn new skills, want to help others, or just want to find out more information, then come and visit Community360 at this event and find your ideal volunteering opportunity”.
