For those of you who do not know about the Business Bank, this project brings local community organisations and businesses together to provide mutual support and exchange expertise. Community groups are able to access invaluable professional advice or practical help. In return, businesses are able to meet their corporate social responsibilities, increase their networking opportunities and gain some really good PR in the process!
As well as providing an opportunity to network with other organisations, Business Bank enables attendees to notify others of the type of support they are looking for, or to promote the expertise/services they can offer. Exchanges between organisations can consist of partnership working, sharing resources, donated support, discounted rates or simply agreeing to provide a ‘paid for’ service.
The following are just a few examples of the wide range of expertise which has been offered by previous attendees:
- IT/web services
- Volunteering opportunities
- Workplace health support
- Tax advice
- Support for people with substance misuse issues
- Legal services
- Advocacy support

The Fundraiser’s Network Group meeting will take place immediately after the Business Bank meeting from 10.30am – 12.00 noon and includes fundraising advice and networking opportunities. We will be hearing from Caroline Bates, Head of Charity and Fundraising, Colchester Hospital University NHS Trust on the Do’s and Don’ts of running a capital appeal and from Tim Huggett on the criteria and application process for the Anglian Community Trust (ACT) Fund which will be opening in the Spring.
