Wayne is a Steward at Ipswich Town Football Club and has been volunteering for over a year.
“I wanted to bring my experiences and skills into the community and be part of something great. Some friends were already involved with C360, so I joined and have been supporting befriending calls, family fun activities at Firstsite and have been involved in the vaccination programme.
Meeting the public and making new friends, has been fantastic and being part of the community, knowing you are making a difference. At Firstsite I enjoyed meeting and greeting families and helping to prepare the meals knowing that the children will not go hungry. It made it something special and it became my ‘happy place.’ I was also proud to be part of the vaccination program at the Primary Care Centre and at Parsons Heath GP Surgery.
Get on board as a volunteer! Make new friends, support the community and be part of something amazing, even for just a few hours a week you can make that difference. You can also learn new skills; gain confidence and it also helps with your mental health. Volunteering is my ‘happy place.’
