The My Sighted Guide role is a fantastic volunteer opportunity which supports people with sight loss to get out and about, living more independent and social lives. As a volunteer you will be carefully matched with a service user and arrange to meet once a week (or fortnightly) to spend 2-3 hours going out to enjoy a range of activities – it might be going out to attend a social/community group, gym/class, having a look round the shops or even just going for a walk, a cuppa and a chat.
Full training and regular and ongoing support are provided, and you will have an opportunity to meet other volunteers and attend our bespoke volunteer events. It’s an opportunity to make a huge difference to someone’s life! You can start an application by entering your postcode on the Guide Dogs website – https://www.guidedogs.org.uk/how-you-can-help/volunteering-for-guide-dogs/ or contact tadeja.zajec@guidedogs.org.uk for more information.
