NAVCA News
How can we make volunteering accessible and inclusive for everyone, and how can we recruit volunteers for the long-term? With lots of conversations about volunteering happening nationally, NAVCA wanted to share what they are doing this month to support and promote their members around volunteering.
NAVCA members work in their local areas to support small charities and community groups. Volunteering, whether formal or informal, is integral to thriving communities. NAVCA members encourage and nurture volunteering opportunities, so that people can build connections and work together on things they care about, driving positive change locally. Through initiatives such as the Vision for Volunteering and the Volunteer Centre Quality Accreditation (VCQA), the voluntary sector is supported further.
Some members are also getting involved with The Big Help Out, a national campaign around volunteering. It is taking place on Monday 8th May 2023, the bank holiday after the King’s coronation, and people are encouraged to lend a hand by volunteering. NAVCA want to use this conversation to talk about how they recruit volunteers for the longer term, making sure that the volunteering experience is valuable and inclusive for everyone involved, which is why NAVCA members are helping their local communities get #VolunteerReady.
